About ProofRead
=========================================================================
ProofRead is a search and replace utility for the Newton.
Installing ProofRead
=========================================================================
ProofRead requires the Newton 2.0 OS.
Install ProofRead with Newton Backup Utility or any third-party package
downloading program.
ProofRead will install a button in the Notepad's status bar, as well as being
visible in the Extras Drawer. Tapping on ProofRead's icon brings up a floating
view with the following:
Using ProofRead
=========================================================================
o Search entryline: The string to search for o Replace
entryline: The string to replace with o Correct Notes Only: Check this to
correct the current Note in the Notepad
Uncheck this to correct the current key view (where the caret is located).
o New Note (only visible when Correct Notes Only is checked). Make a new note
from the ProofRead text.
Status Bar Buttons
=========================================================================
o Info Button: Tap this to see the about screen.
o Correct Button: Tap this to correct the current Note or key view.
o Ext Button: Select from the popup the extension you wish to use.
o Hilite Button: Tap this to temporarily hilite the current key view.
You can undo ProofRead operations made on the current key view but not on those
operations on entire notes. You may wish to check the New Note checkbox to ensure
that the original text it not modified by ProofRead.
